Forget Me Not Garden

Garden Caretakers

David Efird

The “Forget Me Not Garden” is the home of plants that were rescued after the storm. Volunteer Debbie Clark carefully tended the plants at her home until the section was repaired and ready for the plants. Volunteers from the local community and beyond came to help replant this area.

Charlene’s bench purchased from George Wittmer, is very special. This beautiful cast-iron bench predates the Civil War. The bench was installed in honor of one of our founding volunteers, Charlene Efird, about six months after her passing in July 2021. An arbor that would shelter the bench that was put in place and a native wisteria that was planted at the same time. The bench, arbor and wisteria all survived the storm and sit at the rivers edge for a spectacular view.
